Dear Customers:

Due to current drought conditions in our area, Chisholm Trail Special Utility District is reaching an extremely critical condition.  At the current rate of water consumption, the District’s second well will go offline possibly by the end of this week.  The District’s other primary well had to be shut down during July because of a record low in the aquifer level that supplies the well.  If the second well goes out of service, the water supply to customers will be reduced by over 30%.

In an effort to prevent catastrophic effects to many customers, the District is declaring an interim Stage 4 of the District’s Drought Contingency Plan.  Because Stage 4 prohibits all outside watering, the District would like to begin with a prohibition of landscape irrigation systems, automatic sprinkler systems, and hose-end sprinklers.  This prohibition will allow the District to determine if this will reduce usage to a manageable level.

Effective immediately, all Chisholm Trail Special Utility District Customers are prohibited from using landscape irrigation systems, automatic sprinkler systems, and hose-end sprinklers at all times.  Customers can use manually held hoses only during their designated watering day and times.  All other prohibitions effective during Stage 3 shall remain in force.

Customer cooperation with the following mandatory restrictions may prevent more stringent requirements from being implemented in the near future:

1. Watering of landscaped areas may occur only once per week!  The mandatory times for outside water remain between the hours of 12:00 midnight to 6:00 A.M. or 7:00 P.M. to 12:00 midnight.  The designated outdoor water use schedule is as follows:

Addresses with a number ending in 0 or 9 – Mondays only

Addresses with a number ending in 1 or 8 – Tuesdays only

Addresses with a number ending in 2 or 7 – Thursdays only

Addresses with a number ending in 3 or 6 – Fridays only

Addresses with a number ending in 4 or 5 – Sundays only

There shall be no outside watering on Wednesdays or Saturdays.

2. The use of water for washing sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, streets, tennis courts, patios, or other paved areas, except to alleviate immediate health or fire hazards is prohibited.

3.  The watering of the ground around foundations to prevent foundation cracking is permitted only during times designated for landscape irrigation.  Use of a drip irrigation system or hand-held hose may be used to water the ground around foundations to prevent foundation cracking.

Customers should be advised that failure to comply with the above restrictions may result in a fine and/or termination of water service.  Should you have any questions, please call the District office at (254) 793-3103.
